Wilson's JetPilot Racing's Luke Wilson has hit his target of finishing the 2013 Terex Australian Supercross Championship in side the top ten overall with a 10th place finish at Toowoomba Queensland on Saturday night.
Overcoming a slow start in the night‰Ûªs main event, Wilson worked his way back through the field and was still gaining on the riders in front of him when the race ended, a result that he attributes to his trainer Luke Whitaker.
"Toowoomba was definitely my best race of the year and everything came together," Wilson explained. "Though in saying that I did not get off to the best start in the nights main event. However I was able to move through the field to tenth place and was still moving forward right until the end of the race.
"It was the fittest I have felt all year. I have recently changed my training program over to Luke Whitaker and he has changed things up for me a bit and it is starting to work.
"It did not show in my heat race, but in the main the changes he made showed and I was able to move forward all race and did not feel tired at all," Wilson added.
"I am happy with my 10th place overall for the championship, after this last weekend and working out how well I could ride, I wish I could have ridden like that all series, but it is what it is and I am still happy and I am already looking forward to getting back out on the bike next year."
With the 2013 race season now over for the Queensland based rider, Wilson has some plans to change things up in the off season, though before taking a short break from the MX/SX track he paid tribute to all of those who have helped him through the 2013 Motocross and Supercross championships.
"It has been a big 2013 season and I could not have done it without all our team sponsors and certainly it would not have been possible without the continued support from both of my parents, my mechanic Jason Corney and my Fianc̩ Samantha.
"I have just got hold of a BMX to have some fun on during the off-season, mainly to help with some fitness and I might also keep it up a little during the MX season next year to change things up a little," he concluded.
