Mick Hansen, Dealer Principal at Redline Honda in Mackay, has won his 13th King of the Beach crown at the annual Grasstree Beach Races.
The veteran was up against stiff competition this year including Steve Dinsdale on the $35,000 machine that won the French beach race at Le Touquet.
Hansen followed up on his ‰Ûª07 win with another stellar performance on his modified Honda CR500, one of Honda‰Ûªs original motocross winning machines that also has multiple Finke Desert titles to its name.
Hansen's victory yesterday was even more remarkable considering the fact that he had to be hospitalised recently for health issues.
"That really put me behind," he admitted. "I also had to work on the bike until 2 am the day before racing, so it was a big relief to take the win.‰Û
