Tomorrow (April 1) is the last day to get your entry in for this year's Hog's Breath Cafe Australian
Four Day Enduro.
The A4DE is one of the world's most prestigious off road races and much of its appeal is that it
offers a sensational ride not only for the top of the field, but for clubman (amateurs) as well.
Spots are still available - make 2008 the year you experience all the four day has to offer, including
competing along side the best in Australia and some of the best in the world.
The event boasts classes for any senior rider male or female from clubman to pro.
Race organisers, Dirt Bike Promotions'
Phil Sargent and DeTour's Lyndon Heffernan, said
competitors were in for a "real treat" this year with the beautiful Victorian country side set to offer
"spectacular trails and special tests".
Heffernan said the riding in this year's event "truly is some of the best in Australia" and the chance
to ride such a "good track for four whole days in an national event really isn't one to miss".
He said the A4DE would be "challenging but extremely fun".
"Trail sections will range from red clay to shaley high country terrain," he said. "There will be six
tests per day, a variety of grass track and forest tests and one that will be used on the way from
Parc ferme each day. In most cases start and finish will be side by side to make it easy for crews
and riders," he said.
"The final Moto test will be a European-style track on the side of a hill with nearly 90 percent of the
track visible from the spectator area.
"It will be held at Lardner Park, which is just five-minutes off the Princes Highway... it's a fantastic
spot and will be a really fun track to ride... there's also a huge pavilion that's just been built at the
top of the hill that will be perfect for taking in the atmosphere and watching the racing."
Sargent said they had again secured a football complex for Parc Ferme (where the bikes are
locked up each night and support crews are based), "but this time it is fully licensed".
"We work hard to make sure the event gets bigger and better every year," Sargent said.
"We strive to have the best tracks and for our event to run as smoothly as possible so everyone
has a great race.
"We also try to give competitors, supporters and members of the public the opportunity to meet the
feature and local riders and to get an insight into how they prepare and what they enjoy about such
a big event through the Rider Meet and Greet, which will be held directly after the rider's briefing
on the Tuesday night before the start."
Among the big-name riders who will be contesting the 30th annual A4DE are five-time MX World
Champion and BMW pilot, Belgium's
Joel Smets, as well as Polish enduro sensation
Bartosz
Oblucki, fast Italian
Antoine Meo and Aussie ex-pat
Jake Stapleton, who grew up in the NSW
Hunter Valley region and spent several years racing the World Championships in Europe.
