Motorex Shift KTM Off-Road Racing are preparing for a wet and slippery battle at round three and four of the Australian Off-Road Championship heading to Batemans Bay this weekend, 31 March and 1 April.
Home of the Australian Four Day Enduro, competitors will take to a course located at Buckenboura 20 minutes from Batemans Bay, which is renowned as one of the best off-road circuits in Australia.
Sitting second in the enduro two (E2) class behind Honda's
AJ Roberts, Motorex Shift KTM Off-Road Racing's lead rider
Brad Williscroft says he feels confident to match AJ this weekend and is preparing for the dicey sections in shaded areas for which the course is renowned.
"The weather has been quite wet across coastal NSW for a week or so now, giving me plenty of practice in slippery conditions that I'm sure will be coming my way at Batemans Bay, said Williscroft.
"I rode the KTM 450 EXC on the same course at the Australian Four Day Enduro last year, so I know what to expect. I've been testing on some pretty steep and slippery tracks to prepare for the weekend, where I hope to catch AJ, who is six points ahead of me in the Championship."
Motorex Shift KTM Off Road Racing's enduro one (E1) class entrant
Ben Kearney headed north for his training, competing in a club event at Port Macquarie last weekend, where he placed second behind Chris Hollis who currently leads the E1 class of the Australian Championship.
"I wanted to take the KTM 250 EXC-F to Port Macquarie because I knew
Chris Hollis and a lot of other pros would be racing. I'm sitting in second in the national championship behind Hollis so he was my best benchmark for training sessions, said Kearney.
"I was actually beating Hollis for most of the club race but I had a few mechanical challenges which pushed me back slightly. I'm pleased to have those sorted out now so I will be well prepared for this weekend, where I can hopefully take the E1 lead from Hollis".
Completing the team's second all round positioning for the national championship enduro three (E3) team member,
Jehi Willis has his own preparations in place for claiming first place in class.
"I've been testing the KTM 300 EXC-E with my mechanic in all kinds of conditions wet, dry, slippery, steep ‰ÛÒ you name it, said Jehi.
"This is a new bike just out in 2007 so testing is the key and so far everything is running really smoothly. I feel quite confident that this weekend I can claim the E3 class lead and also improve on my outright standing."
All riders will compete in six special tests at each round, riding up to 200 kilometres each day. The fastest competitors in each special test accumulate the most points for a class or outright win.
