2004 will see KTM once again be active with factory teams in all 3 motocross World Championship classes.
In the 125cc class the Champ KTM Team will field 4 of the best young riders in World Motocross. Tyla Rattray, Ben Townley, Marc de Reuver and Erik Eggens. The riders will be racing on SX 125 motorcycles primarily, although the new 250 4 stroke may be used in some races.
In the MXGP class KTM will concentrate on young riders with potential, Steve Ramon and Kenneth Gundersen. With the goal to bring them up to the top ‰ÛÒ following the policy which already proved so successful in the 125 class.
The 650cc team will be run in 2004 by Jacky Martens. Jacky has headed the Husaberg factory team for the past 2 seasons and will now switch to KTM with the mixture of experience and youth in riders Yves Demaria and Sven Brugelmans.
Joel Smets, has decided not to race with KTM in 2004. With 34 GP victories, 2 World Championships and 3 Vice Championships Joel is the most successful KTM motocross rider of all time! KTM has wished him every success in his future ventures.
