KTM and Jeremy van Horebeek of the KTM Factory Junior Racing Team have come to a mutual agreement about terminating the young Belgian rider's participation in the factory team's junior program, effective immediately.
Van Horebeek is thus free to pursue his future career activities. The move comes just prior to the final round of the Motocross World Championships at the Motodromo Arthur Jachovicz circuit in the south of Brazil this weekend.
The Belgian rider was twice second and once third in MX2 World Championship races in the first half of the season. Indeed his 2-3 result in the two motos of the MX2 GP of Catalunya in Spain catapulted him to the top of the podium for his first career GP victory and his personal highlight of the current season. Van Horebeek is currently in eleventh place in the championship standings but he has been recently troubled with a niggling shoulder injury. As he is unlikely to be able to achieve his full riding potential in the final round, the KTM Factory Junior Racing Team, with the rider's consent, considered it appropriate to draw a line under his commitments before the last round.
"We hope that by releasing Jeremy from his contract now he will have a chance to quickly recover from his injury and can move on with planning his longer term sporting career," said KTM's Offroad Director Pit Beirer. "We at KTM wish him a speedy recovery, a return to full fitness and all the best for the future."
