Kay de Wolf will graduate to the premier MXGP class in 2026 with Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, marking the next major step in an already stellar career.
The Dutch star, who claimed the 2024 MX2 World Championship and has twice topped the MX2 class at the Motocross of Nations, will continue his long and successful partnership with Husqvarna aboard the factory FC 450.
Looking ahead to his MXGP debut, de Wolf said the move is both an exciting and natural step in his journey with Husqvarna. “This is a really special moment for me,” he said. “To move up to MXGP with Husqvarna – the team that’s been my home since I turned pro – feels like a natural next step. We’ve shared so many incredible moments together in MX2: race wins, podiums, a world title, and so many lessons along the way. The FC 450 is an amazing machine, and I already feel at home on it. Of course, MXGP is a huge challenge, but I’m ready for it. I want to learn from the best, keep improving, and show what we can do in the premier class.”

Having joined the Husqvarna family back in 2019, de Wolf’s rise through the ranks has been nothing short of remarkable. From his early EMX125 days to his domination on Europe’s toughest sand circuits, he’s earned a reputation for his combination of precision, aggression, and technical mastery that makes him one of motocross’s most exciting young riders.
After claiming his first Grand Prix win in Latvia during the 2023 MX2 season, de Wolf went on to secure multiple podiums and finish sixth overall. His 2024 campaign was a breakout year, producing seven GP victories, 12 podium finishes, and ultimately the MX2 World Championship title at just 20 years old. He backed that up with another incredible season in 2025, scoring seven more GP wins and finishing runner-up after a thrilling championship battle that went down to the wire.

De Wolf has also made a big mark on the international stage. He’s a multiple Dutch Masters of Motocross champion and a two-time Motocross of Nations representative for Team Netherlands, where he helped the squad to a third-place overall finish and won the MX2 class in 2024. He repeated that achievement in 2025, taking his second consecutive MXoN MX2 victory and earning the prestigious Gold Plate.

Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing Team Manager Rasmus Jorgensen praised de Wolf’s progression and work ethic, saying his rise has been “something truly special.” He added, “From his first days in EMX, we knew he had a rare combination of speed and determination – and that’s exactly what carried him to an MX2 world title and countless incredible rides. Moving to MXGP is the next big step, but we have no doubt he’ll adapt quickly. His work ethic, his mindset, and his connection with the team are all exceptional. 2026 will be about learning and finding his rhythm on the 450, but knowing Kay, he’ll be fighting at the front before long.”
At just 21, de Wolf enters the next phase of his career as one of motocross’s brightest prospects – and with Husqvarna’s continued backing, he’s well-positioned to make an immediate impact when he takes on the world’s best in the premier class next season.
