Aussie motocross journeyman Justin Carafa has headed back to Europe to race the H4 Kawasaki privateer team in the 450 class.
Carafa, who has raced in Europe back in 2008, will be based in Switzerland and race in the Swiss Masters series - the National series of Switzerland - as well as a few MX3 World Championship rounds if the chance arises.
"I won races here in 2008 so i think i have a good chance of finishing top five at least," Carafa said.
With no ride lined up for the Rocktar MX Nationals at home in Australia, Carafa took matter into his own hands.
"After the Supercross round in Canberra when i got hurt, i had a lot of down time on the couch, I had nothing on the go for 2010 except a good gear deal with Scott thanks to Joel and Bernie Ryan, i sent a few emails and this come about so i thought about it for a few weeks and here i am," he explained.
Carafa plans to return for the home for the Supercross season.
"Depending on how the championship is going i will stay until it ends, but i really want to be back for the Super-X series."
Adjusting to the European way of life is tough for most that try their hand at racing in Europe but Justin has been there before and settling in.
"It's different for sure. It's very laid back here, the language barrier is hard but i'm learning. I had a good routine in Australia so its been tricky making a new one here but all is going well and i am not homesick just yet," he said.
Justin concluded by saying, "A big thanks to his family for their support, my boss's Tony and Vito back home for being behind me and Joel Ryan from C&R for setting him up awesome gear over there."
Carafa will hit the track for his first race on April the 15th at in Fraunfeld, Switzerland, for the opening round of the Masters.
