RCH Racing Soaring Eagle Suzuki‰Ûªs Josh Hill raced back to form with a heat-race win and eighth overall in the 450cc Main Event at Saturday night‰Ûªs Anaheim 2 Supercross.
After missing the opening main event of the season at A1, the rider who narrowly missed out on winning the 2013 Australian Supercross championship suffered another disappointing performance in Phoenix last week where he could not catch a break and missed the transfer from his heat race, semi and LCQ by one position each time.
Hill who has been suffering a back injury that he picked up in the lead up to the season opener looked to have worked through some of the issues and was feeling positive at the third round of the AMA/ FIM World Supercross Championship at Angel Stadium in California.
Feeling no pain in the Main Event, Hill started within the top 10, diced the entire race, but just could not make his pass on Suzuki‰Ûªs Weston Peick stick and had to settle for eighth place.
‰ÛÏI'm not overly happy with tonight, but it's a step in the right direction after this back injury." Hill stated. "I am happy to win the semi and most importantly, I put a smile on my grandpa's face.
"Of course when you race for ‰Û÷The Greatest Of All Time‰Ûª as Ricky Carmichael is known, the bar is set pretty high to start with. Getting up into the top 10 is a good place to build from, so I'll take an eighth and keep moving forward," Hill added.
With one solid result behind him, Hill will look to keep the momentum going with another solid performance at round four in Oakland this weekend and then continue to aim for the podium throughout the rest of the year.
‰ÛÏI wasn't sure I was even going to be able to race this weekend because I was in so much pain from back issues,‰Û
