Josh Cachia to race AMA West Coast Supercross Lites in 2013

Josh Cachia has secured a ride with his JDR KTM team, to race for their American outfit J/Star JDR KTM, filling the position left vacant by Matt Moss.

Rumours started to surface on Friday in Dubbo that Cachia would be sitting out of the opening round of the 2012 Terex Australian Supercross Championship with plans to head to America as soon as next week.

Cachia himself confirmed this news early on Saturday Morning during the riders track walk in Dubbo and later explained how the deal come about and the big life changing decision he had to make.

"A door opened, Mossy sort of jumped ship and it left a door open for me" Cachia commented, "I got the offer about three or four days ago, and I have been stressed out ever since"

"I had to decide if I should take this opportunity of a life time, but at the same time I have my family, my girlfriend, my dog and my house which are all things I care about, more than motorbikes, my family always comes first." explained the 20 year old.

"I wanted to make sure everyone I care about here is happy before I go. I spent a lot of time speaking to people that I respect and look up to searching for advice.

"Almost everyone I have spoken to have told me to take the opportunity with open arms and that is what I have decided to do." he added.

"This decision has been a lot more stressful than I thought it would be. If this had happened when I was sixteen it would have been easy. Though I am only 20 I already have a lot going on for myself here in Australia."

It will be no easy feat for Cachia heading to America to race the countries best Lites riders in the West Coast supercross championship. Lining up against the likes of Ken Roczen, Blake Bagget and Eli Tomac would be a daunting task.

In true Cachia style he is looking forward to the challenge ahead and has no fear when it comes to lining up against any other racer, be it here in Australia or over in the United States of America.

"I am sure that once I get over there and the ball starts rolling it is going to be pretty mad." the rider from Carpenters Rocks in South Australia stated.

"I am going to go over there and make everyone proud, do well for my country and hopefully everybody back home will be able to watch me and see there is another Australian over there doing well."

"I have never been a rider that has worried about anyone else on the track, at the end of the day they are just dudes on bikes racing. The guys over there are the fastest supercross riders in the world, but there is not one rider that I am intimidated by." concluded Cachia.

Cachia will take no part in the Australian supercross championship in 2012 and will head to America next week to start testing with his American team. There is a strong possibility however that we will see Cachia return to Australia to race the ASX championship in 2013.
