Josh Brookes To Race Superstock at MotoGP

Posted:

Josh Brookes will be taking centre stage for the HM Plant Honda team at the two-wheel British Grand Prix at Silverstone in two weeks' time for rounds five and six of the National Superstock 1000 Championship.

Josh currently lies second in the overall British Superbike standings and has now been called up to replace the injured Steve Plater who was leading the title chase until a crash at the North West 200 last month.

The Australian ace is eager to make an impression when the Superstock grid lines up for the first time on the all-new Silverstone Arena circuit, as a support class to the main MotoGP race and, aims to put the HM Plant Honda back on the podium.

Josh said, "It sucks that Steve‰Ûªs injured and isn‰Ûªt able to compete in the next round, but I am really fired up and definitely want to put on a good show for the crowd there and do the team justice. We know the HM Plant Honda Fireblade Superstock machine is a proven race winner as Steve showed that before he was injured so I want to go out and do the best job I can for the team and Steve.

‰ÛÏThe Superstock HM Plant Honda is not too dissimilar to what I raced when I was in the Australian Superbike Championship a few years ago as their regulations are similar to BSB, so it's a case of getting to grips with the new circuit and making the most of learning that and then giving the other guys hell!

‰ÛÏA few people have asked me if I‰Ûªm looking forward to having the opportunity to showcase myself in the MotoGP scene, but that really isn‰Ûªt in my head. I‰Ûªve raced in support classes in high profile international races before and I‰Ûªm realistic that those are not really about being seen for progressing your international racing career. And, in all honesty, that‰Ûªs not my focus at the moment either.

"My aim is to do the best I can in the two Superstock races at Silverstone to represent Honda and then, go hell for leather to take the British Superbike Championship lead and then title. I‰Ûªm loving my racing this year and will take every opportunity put in front of me to do the best I can my for myself, Honda and the team," Brrokes concluded.

The two Superstock races within the Silverstone round of the British Championship take place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 June alongside MotoGP.
