World renowned riders Josh Coppins and Brett Metcalfe have given their support to saving Barrabool Motocross Track, and become a part of the "BIG PICTURE" Wall campaign of the Sporting Motorcycle Club at McAdam Park, Barrabool.
Josh and Brett both became "adopted" members of the club after supporting the Oceania MX Championships at McAdam Park last November. After each winning their respective classes, both riders generously donated their winnings back to the club.
"We hope having the support of Josh and Brett will inspire others to get their name on the wall too, and help us to not lose this magnificent venue. All we need is the cash, no strings attached!" lifetime Sporting MCC member, Peter Ovens, said. All monies go into the "Saving Barrabool Fund", which is to be kept for land purchase.
The "BIG PICTURE" Wall is a giant mosaic of tiles showing the McAdam Park logo. Each of the 10,000 tiles is numbered, so you can choose your favourite number, but you have to get in early.
"Josh raced with #5 at Oceania, so he has #5 tile, and Brett naturally gets #123. We have a riders section on the wall, and we are now starting to contact all Australian, and the World‰Ûªs, famous riders," Ovens added.
Troy Dorron and
Lee Hogan have also added their support to the campaign.
The club would like all well known riders to contact them to make their job of chasing up contacts a little easier.
Time is running out for the club, with the land coming up for auction this year.
McAdam Park, Barrabool, is one of Australia‰Ûªs oldest tracks, having a rich 43 year history. Situated in a beautiful natural amphitheatre, it constantly produces spectacular racing on its open layout, which provides excellent viewing from all parts of the circuit.
