New South Wales riders have been treated to a very hot and humid weekend at Round 6 of the Honda 'Girls and Groms on the Gas' Competition.
This year's NSW leg of the competition was held at the Cessnock Mini Bike Club in the Newcastle region north of Sydney.
In extremely hard packed conditions it was clear that from the opening laps of the very first practice session this was going to be one of the toughest and highly competitive rounds that the BCP team had come across.
When the points were tallied at the end of day two we had a clear winner in the Honda Girls on the Gas and one of the closest finishes to the Honda Grom's on the Gas that we have seen throughout 2010.
Tayla Jones dominated proceedings in the girl's event winning all four point scoring categories and winning the overall by the maximum margin.
"I'm over the moon to get to represent NSW in the Final Showdown later in the year," said Jones.
"I know what I need to work on to be up there with last years winner Jess Moore so we just have to put the work in."
In the Honda 'Grom's on the Gas' Competition it was Todd Jarratt, the 15 year old from Hay in country NSW that came out on top by the smallest of margins with solid wins in the public speaking and 'on bike' technique categories.
One point separated Todd Jarratt from Brayden Constable back in second place with Constable smoking the field in the lap times and scoring himself a solid second placing in the public speaking.
With a tie on points for third overall between Jack Hanckel and Callan Hayes it was Hanckel that took the last step on the podium via a count-back by taking the win in the final event of the day (shuttle run fitness test).
Todd Jarratt had this to say after the event.
"It was such a close battle today between four of us," said Jarratt.
"None of us really had a clue who would take the win but that just made it all the more exciting."
The big Final Showdown for the Honda Girls on the Gas Competition will be held at the Outtrim Motocross Circuit in Gippsland, Victoria on Saturday the 11th of December, while the Grom's will be held the day after at the notoriously sandy Rosebud Circuit just south of Melbourne.
The winner of both the Honda Girls and Groms on the Gas for 2010 will earn themselves a host of sponsors for the 2011 season consisting of: Honda Motorcycles, Fox Clothing, Fuchs Silkolene Oils, Dirt Action Magazine, NineTwo Decals
