Jason Anderson showcased podium-worthy speed at Round 10 of the Monster Energy Supercross season in Birmingham, Alabama, but struggled with the aggressive Triple Crown format, ultimately finishing seventh overall.
Anderson started the night strong, qualifying fourth but the racing proved challenging. In Race 1, The Monster Energy Kawasaki’s rider launched into second place but was taken out after an aggressive pass by Chase Sexton. After remounting in sixth, he fought back to finish fifth. “The day started off pretty well.
We made some setup changes by the end of practice, and I felt a lot more comfortable, which helped me qualify fourth,” Anderson said. “Going into the night show, I was in a good spot in the first race, started in second, and was holding strong, but about halfway through, Chase [Sexton] put some pressure on me and ended up putting me on the ground. I got back up in sixth and fought my way to finish fifth, which was solid considering the setback.”
In Race 2, Anderson started in fourth and moved into third, but a pass from Malcolm Stewart sent him back to eighth. “I had a decent start in fourth and quickly moved into third. I was in a good battle, but Malcolm [Stewart] got by me, and then right before the whoops, I went down which put me all the way back to eighth,” he explained. Anderson tried to recover but ultimately finished eighth in the second race.
The final race of the night saw Anderson start inside the Top 10, but a first-lap mistake sent him to the back of the field. “My start wasn’t great—I was around the top 10—but then I went down on the first lap and ended up dead last. From there, I just put my head down and charged forward as best as I could, eventually making it up to 12th,” Anderson said. Despite a strong effort, he finished 12th in the final race, securing seventh overall with a 5-8-12 result.
“Overall, it wasn’t the night we wanted, but we’ll take what we learned and keep building,” he concluded. Anderson will look to build on his speed and work through the challenges as the season progresses.
Anderson currently sits sixth in the 450 championship standings and will be back in action for the next round in Seattle next weekend.
