James Stewart comes from behind to score his ninth Supercross win

James Stewart has made it nine wins for the season when the Kawasaki Factory rider recorded what must be a demoralising win over Chad Reed at the 12th round of the Ampd Mobile AMA Supercross Series at the RCA Dome, Indianapolis. Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey recorded his second win of the year in the Lites class. Chad Reed got proceedings in the 20 lap main underway when the San Manuel Yamaha rider landed the holeshot from Tim Ferry and Kevin Windham, the big news was that Stewart was second last and was forced to roll through the whoops in the heavy traffic in the opening lap. From there Reed shot straight out to a huge lead but Stewart had made his way passed 11 riders within 2 laps and was already in eighth place. Kevin Windham's engine had let go and Tim Ferry and Yamaha's Grant Langston held onto second and third. By lap ten though Stewart was clear of the rest of the field and set his sights on Reed. Around lap 14 a race broke out as Reed and Stewart went at it. Reed did play hard ball and tried to defend but it was all in vain and Stewart ended up holding him out by just under 2 seconds. Timmy Ferry once again showed he is in form with a fighting third place ahead of Grant Langston who recorded his best ever Open class finish with 5th. LITES:
After the heart break last week of not being able to compete due to a damaged bike Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey came out firing in Indianapolis and took the Lites class with a gate to flag win. Dungey fended of Ben Townley, who had recovered from a heavy heat race crash, in the early going but soon broke away to lead every one of the 15 laps. After Dungey broke away Townley had a lonely ride with the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider maintain second for the whole distance. Last weeks winner Brandon Jesserman showing that he has the speed consistently to run with the leaders with a solid third position Championship leader Ryan Morais kept his lead alive with a fighting 4th after clawing his way back from down the field in the early running. Townley's team-mate Darcy Lange took a big hit in the points after crashing in the first turn and having to complete the distance without a clutch, his final finish of ninth didn't net him enough points to not drop one spot in the standings to Townley. Townley now moves within ten points of the championship lead in second. "I just felt like I rode a good race, Ben pressured me for the first ten laps. I was like man this is going be a tough one but we pulled through," Dungey said after the race.
