Jake Moss on the box for the third time in a row

Serco Yoshimura Yamaha's Jake Moss made it a hat trick of podium appearances at the last three rounds after his strong second place at round six of the Rockstar MX Nationals held at the Goanna Tracks circuit at Coonabarabran.

Moss, who missed the opening round due to a shoulder injury, has made steady progress in the series since his return and now back nearing full fitness is beginning to show his true potential and the podium run is just the beginning of his surge up the points ladder.

His moto results of 2-4-3-2 also shows a consistency in his racing and combined with his re-emerging speed, there is no doubt Jake Moss will be a force to be reckoned with at the final few rounds of the championship.

"Again, more steps forward for me today. My fitness was a little better than the last round, I had more strength in my shoulder and I was able to race harder for longer than any time this year," Moss said.

"My goal now is to start winning some races and win a round or two before the end of the championship. Points wise, I'm not in contention for a good overall result, but I want to keep working and improving and ride at the level that I know I can," he explains.

Unfortunately it wasn't such a great day for the series second placed rider, Kirk Gibbs. Gibbs entered the round with less than 30 points separating him from the championship leader, but a luckless day saw that margin slip back out to around 50 points.

His four moto scores of DNF ‰ÛÒ 3-10-7 saw him round out the day in 10th positions. The DNF was due to a heavy fall in the opening laps that left Gibbs sore and his bike bent and twisted. He solider on for the remainder of the day but couldn't get his mojo up and running as he did earlier in the championship.

"I'm not going to dwell on today for too long," Gibbs mentioned. "It's just one of those days where you need to move on quickly and prepare for the next round as there isn't much that can be taken from it."

"The positive is that I really like the last three tracks at Albury, Moree and Coolum so as of now I will get myself ready to go for them and ensure that I fight this thing out all the way to the finish," he says determinedly.
