IEG Appointed promoter of the Victorian Road Racing Championships

Posted:

International Entertainment Group (IEG), promoter of the Australian Superbike Championship, has been appointed the promoter for the Victorian Road Race Championships for the next three years by Motorcycling Victoria (MV).

After an intensive application process, the Board of MV has handed the promotion of the Championships to IEG until the end of 2014.

Both IEG and the Preston Motorcycle Club presented applications to the Board to host the series, and the decision to appoint IEG heralds a new era in Road Racing in Victoria.

According to MV Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Weiss, the three-year term will ensure that Road Racing is taken to a completely new level in Victoria.

"We are very pleased to be able to form this partnership with IEG to promote the Victorian Road Race Championships for the next three years," Weiss said.

"Preston has done a great job running the Vic Titles over the past two years, but now is the time for a fresh approach to allow this series to reach the lofty heights it deserves.

"Having run the ASBK Championship for the past three years, IEG will bring its fantastic event, publicity and promotions experience to the Titles to help develop Road Racing at both State and club levels.

"It is a very exciting time to be involved in Road Racing in Victoria, and this announcement paves the way for unlimited possibilities over the next three years," Weiss added.

IEG Managing Director Yarrive Konsky said that he was thrilled to be able to make such a significant contribution at a State-level.

"We have been successfully running the premier Road Racing series in Australia for the past three years, and to have this opportunity to transfer that success directly to a State-level event is incredible," he said.

"We have many ideas on how we can improve the Championships, and look forward to working together with the MV Road Race Committee, the clubs and the riders to achieve great success over the next three years.

"IEG and MV have agreed that entry fees for the Victorian Titles will remain at the same price for the three years as they were in 2011. IEG will endeavour to seek both internal and external industry support in an effort to put back into the sport at state-level.

"IEG wants to help grow and develop the sport at grassroots level, and at the same time make the Victorian Championships the pinnacle level to race at in the State.

"We believe we have all the key ingredients to make this happen, and look forward to working with all the key stakeholders to make this Championship the best it possibly could be."

Further details on the 2012 Victorian Road Race Championship will be released in the coming weeks.
