Harvey, Western Australia, 2013 A4DE (Australian 4 Day Enduro). Day one of competition saw competitors greeted by improving conditions in comparison to Tuesday's wet and windy prologue.
The completion of the opening day of competition has Husqvarna racing's Matt Phillips topping both the outright and E2 time sheets on his TE 310 R. Phillip's made the most of the slippery conditions to continue his EWC (Enduro World Championship) form to dominate day one.
"Today was good." Phillips stated at the end of day one. "I rode fast where I could and played safe in the slippery corners.
"So far I'm leading outright and hope to hold the form for the rest of the week. The bike was really strong in the technical test." he added.
Husqvarna's Glenn Kearney had a strong start to his 2013 A4DE campaign, locking down 2nd position in E1 behind Daniel Milner. Kearney is looking to make the most of the improving conditions on day 2.
"I had a disappointing day today, starting with the 3rd best time in the first test, but failed to continue that form for the rest of the day." Kearney explained. "I've finished the day in 2nd in E1 and 5th Outright, looking to improve on that tomorrow."
Lachlan Stanford had a solid ride to keep himself in contention for a strong result in the E2 class, currently sitting a very creditable 5th spot.
"My day went well. I think I was in the top 10 in every test which was good. The tests were really good, looking forward to tomorrow," Stanford commented.
Husqvarna TE 310 R mounted 2012 AORC veterans champion, Damian Smith continued his domination of the veterans class with a commanding display to take first day honors' ahead of and Kirk Hutton and Adam Riemann.
