The highly successful Victorian based Honda Thumpercross series is back for 2005. After some rumours had floated
around that the series would be put on hold.
Full Throttle Sports have announced that the first round of the newly
announced three round series will take place at one of the previous series' most popular venues, Chesterfield Farm,
in Melbourne‰Ûªs Eastern suburb of Scoresby on Sunday, March 27th, 2005.
The opening round will see the two winners from last weekends round of the Maxxis Australian Championship,
Troy Dorron (No Fear Honda) and Cameron Taylor (Serco Yamaha) go head to head in the Pro Lites class.
"It‰Ûªs always fun and super competitive when I line up next to Doz and I think it will
be between us again this year. We have both been training hard and for me to beat him
I will need to be riding at my best." Taylor said.
Young guns Miller and Adam Robinson both want to steal the two veterans‰Ûª thunder,
so they will be pointing their machines forward and gunning it wide open to show
what they‰Ûªre made of. These guys are out to prove their worth and second isn‰Ûªt
an option.
Newly appointed factory KTM rider Lee Ellis is hungry to win, racing full time for
the first time as a member of the Factory Motorex KTM team in 2005, every win counts
for more reasons then just money.
"I want to prove to everyone in Victoria, my sponsors and especially myself that I am
capable of winning and beating these guys. I used to look up to Taylor and Dorron when
I first started racing, but now it‰Ûªs my time to stand on the top step of the podium."
Ellis stated.
Over 300 competitors are expected to make their way to Scorsby Easter Sunday, in
classes ranging from Vets to jnr, ATV‰Ûªs and Women. It will be a day of close racing
for every position on the circuit, from first place to last.
As a part of the days action attractions, the SHIFT FMX Pro Tour rider line up will be
lead by leading Freestyle National rider Matt McFerran. The SHIFT Full Throttle Sports Honda
rider will be busting big air tricks over a 60 ft gap on his CRF 450, fresh from his win at
round two of FMX Unleashed.
"I just love riding all day long and Full Throttle Sports have been great to support me.
I‰Ûªm looking forward to putting on a huge show for everyone that turns up. There will be
a family atmosphere at Chesterfield Farm and the kids and parents should go home with a
better perception of our abilities and professionalism. I practice just as much as the
pro racers because I want to be the best someday, and I love it when the fans go off with
screams and applause of appreciation." said Matt McFerrin.
Full Throttle Sports is definitely trying to establish a family atmosphere for all to enjoy,
with a range of food stalls, rides, games, and a massive Easter egg hunt planned for the
Easter weekend. It will be a day of fun for the whole family.
Full Throttle Sports public relations officer David Rafferton said "The youngsters are our foundation and we need to encourage them to come and enjoy the day‰Ûªs events, both on and off the track. We think it‰Ûªs important to make it a fun day for all spectators and not just the hard core enthusiasts. We want to bring not only the established fans back, but to introduce off-road motorcycling to a host of new fans‰Û
