Gates will drop tomorrow on the final motocross event of the 30th annual Hog's Breath Cafe Australian
Four Day Enduro (A4DE) at Lardner Park in Warragul, Victoria.
Sparks are set to fly in the final motocross - six of the current top-10 racers in the event will line up and
bang bars in Motorex Championship Class 4 (270-450cc 4T) in what has been tipped as one of the most
talent-packed races in A4DE history.
Big name riders including
Chris Hollis,
AJ Roberts,
Blake Hore,
Ben Grabham,
Jarrod Bewley,
Jake
Stapleton, decorated motocrosser
Cameron Taylor and five-time MX World Champion
Joel Smets will
race in the main class 4 heat.
Nail-biting action isn't only on the cards for class 4. Mere seconds divide several of the class leaders
from hungry rivals who will be fighting for Australian titles and many of the riders are also involved in the
state, club and trade team categories.
The A4DE consists of three days of trail and special test phases that are run in a time-rally format. Day 4
will see riders complete a short trail ride to Lardner Park, where they will race in mass start, motocrossstyle
heats depending on their class and position (bikes are held in a central spot until each race).
Ballard's Yamaha Off-Road Team's
Chris Hollis has lead the event from Day 1 and preliminary results
show he will be going into the final moto with a 63-second lead on Flying Frenchman, Husqvarna
Racing's
Antoine Meo, and 65-seconds on GHR Honda's AJ Roberts.
Hollis, who rides a WR450F, will have to be on his game to wrap up the event. It would be possible for
Meo or Roberts to make up the seconds needed to win in the final moto.
Meo charged through the pack after crashing in the first few tests on Day 1 and had won several tests
outright.
The World Enduro Championships contender is a European Supercross Champion and former world
motocross (MX1) contender, so will likely be right at home on the flowing grass track of the final
motocross.
Hollis also has a motocross background and jumped to second outright in last year's A4DE thanks to a
commendable final moto performance.
The 23-year-old said he was happy to be leading, but a lot can happen in the final moto.
"I will be going as hard as I can. The final moto is going to be awesome... there will be a lot of fast guys
in my moto so it's going to be some great racing," Hollis said during the afternoon Hog's Breath Media
Conference, sponsored by Incite.
Roberts, who rides a CRF450R, said it would be "really hard" to catch Hollis.
"We are all just doing our best... Hollis has been riding well and has a pretty big lead, but there is still one
more day and the final moto to go," Roberts said.
"I really want to win and I have been giving it 110 percent and I will do the same tomorrow... all you can
do is hold it on and that's exactly what I plan to do."
Local rider
Blake Hore, of the Christensen's Yamaha Off-Road Team, has held fourth outright since the
beginning of the event and has raised a lot of eyebrows with his speed. Hore placed 13th outright in last
year's A4DE, his best result to date in the grueling event.
There are only 8.7-seconds separating Ballard's rider
Jarrod Bewley, who is sitting fifth outright, GHR's
Peter Boyle (sixth), Yamaha Queensland Off-Road Team's
Kirk Hutton (seventh), GHR's
Ben Grabham
(eighth) and BMW's
Joel Smets (ninth). Motorex KTM's
Ben Kearney is about 13-seconds back, in 10th.
