Hollis and Burrell Come out on Top in NSW Sprint and Cross Country Championship Double Header

Posted:

It was Chris Hollis and Benjamin Burrell that came out as the big winners during the third and fourth rounds of the New South Wales (NSW) Senior and Junior Sprint and Cross Country Championship that was held last weekend at the Gwandalan MVRG on the Central Coast of NSW. In the Seniors it was Hollis (Pro E2) that came away with the outright victory in the Sprint stage and a second place behind winner Rosie Lalonde (Women's), while Burrell (13 to Under 16 Years 125cc) in the Juniors came away with outright victories in both the Sprint and Cross Country stages. With well over 200 Senior and Junior riders that contested the double headed weekend of the NSW Sprint and Cross Country Championship, the battles throughout the classes was closely fought out. It was also the first time for the NSW Sprint and Cross Country Championship that both Juniors and Seniors have ran together on the same weekend. On Saturday's Sprint stages for the Juniors it was Burrell that downed Dale Blackwell (14 to Under 16 Years 85cc) and Tom Kite (14 to Under 16 Years 85cc) outright, while in the Seniors it was Hollis over Darren Lloyd (Pro E3) and Geoff Braico (Pro E3). The next day for the Cross Country stage saw Burrell compete his weekend of dominance by defeating Blackwell and Dylan Rose (14 to Under 16 Years 85cc) in the Junior stage and in the Seniors it was Lalonde that upset the form guide and took victory ahead of Hollis and Adam Lees (Pro E3) in second and third outright respectively. Rounds 5 and 6 of the NSW Senior Sprint and Cross Country Championship will be fought out on the weekend of July 19 and 20 at Oyster Bay MCC - Wattle Flats, while the Sutherland PCYC are set to hold rounds 5 and 6 NSW Junior Sprint and Cross Country Championship at the Menai MVRG on September 6 and 7.
