MotoGP rookie Hiroshi Aoyama expects a lot from the French Grand Prix this weekend at the famous Le Mans circuit.
After the last race in Jerez the 28 year old and his Interwetten Honda team stayed on for a day of testing and the improvements they acheived there were incredible, Aoyama said.
Aoyama had an operation at his left hand after the second Grand Prix three weeks ago as he had some problems with stiffness in it working with the new MotoGP bike. Now Aoyama hopes he will be fully fit again for the Grand Prix of Le Mans.
"I expect a lot from Le Mans," Aoyama said.
"I know the track and it seems to suit specially the Japanese riders. The layout is quite similar to the Twin Ring in Motegi with its Stop and Go sections and I like this layout. Unfortunately the weather is critical in Le Mans. It changes between wet and dry all the time and it never stays all dry or all wet, so it can happen that the set up work of the weekend has to start from zero on race day. Therefore I hope I will have a good feeling with the bike from the first practice on and that I can improve each day. I recharged my batteries in the last couple of days and I hope I will have a good race.
