Husqvarna Australia's Troy Herfoss will be Husqvarna's number one rider in the
AMA Supermoto Championship for 2006.
Team GP Husqvarna, the factory-backed U.S. Supermoto team has announced its
2006 Season Team line-up and welcomed back the sensational, young
Australian rider. Herfoss astonished the AMA field in 2005 as a virtual
unknown, upsetting the ranks in his very first AMA race, taking second place in the
Supermoto Unlimited class, to which he followed up with wins and pole positions later in
the season.
Herfoss is joined by two World and AMA Supermoto regulars, David Baffeleuf and
Alexandre Thiebault, both well respected professionals and front-runners.
"I was ready
for a change," said David Baffeleuf. "And, I am very excited to be riding a Husqvarna for
the 2006 season."
"We are very happy that Troy (Herfoss) decided to stay at home with Husqvarna," said
Paul Lima, Team Owner. "I know he had other good offers. As for David (Baffeleuf) and
Alex (Thiebault), I know both riders are capable of winning races and they both told me
how motivated they are to do it for Husqvarna."
Herfoss will contest all the remaining five rounds the Ssangyong Australian
Supermoto Championship in the S2 class for Husqvarna Racing as well as the AMA
Supermoto Championship on board a Husqvarna SMR 450.
"I am extremely excited about racing in the AMA Supermoto Championship again this
year with Team GP Husqvarna. It's going to be a hectic year, with AMA and Aussie
rounds reasonably close together, however I have been working hard on my fitness, so I
have a good chance to win," said Herfoss yesterday.
The Husqvarna Supermoto team will be competing at the second and third round
double header of the Ssangyong Supermoto Championship at Newcastle on 11th 12th of March 2006.
