Motorcycling Australia (MA) has ruled at a meeting held last night (Feb-16) that fully enclosed hand protection for Supermoto, Enduro‰Ûªs and Cross Country is now permitted for racing at official MA Events which now brings Australia in line with Official FIM rulings.
Hand guards became an issue at the last round off the Bridgestone Summer Supermoto Challenge at Raleigh raceway in Coffs Harbour on March 6th, when it was ruled that they where illegal as the meeting was being run under dirt track rules.
The issue was resolved by way of a warning at Coffs Harbour, but it was stated that any rider running them at the Avard Promotions, Mt Panorama Supermoto on Easter Sunday at Bathurst would not be allowed to ride.
With the new ruling all issues for the riders or organisers of events have been resolved. Due to the ruling late entries will be accepted for those that may have been affected, call Kevin McDonald (02)6331 1955 for further enquiries.
