"With the success of our junior program, it was only natural that we use the same programs in place and implement them on the senior and professional ranks. Each of these riders will receive the full backing from Yamaha Queensland with the aim of increasing profile and awareness of the Yamaha brand state wide and represent this company at a state level," said Team Co-ordinator Jon Hafey. Three riders selected for the team have been on Yamaha‰Ûªs during the past 12 months and this team is a just reward for their dedication and loyalty. Rockhampton‰Ûªs Simon Thompson, the states number 3-plate holder, will campaign both the YZ250F and YZ450F under the Wurths motorcycle banner. Scott Jackson, from the Gold Coast, will race via the Pro Yamaha Dealership on his number 16 YZ250F and YZ450F, while virtual unknown and diamond in the rough, Dean Ferris will represent the team in the Australian Under 19 championship on his YZ250F. "These guys almost selected themselves," said Hafey. "Each of them had tremendous 2006 seasons' with Simon missing out on winning a state Championship because a points system that has since been abolished. Scott was rewarded with the state number five plate for the year, while Dean impressed everyone in his final outing as an amateur with a 2nd overall in the Australian Junior Motocross Championships held late 2006." Yamaha‰Ûªs racing parts division, GYTR has also thrown its weight behind the new team with a comprehensive range of its latest exotic hardware for race bikes and snapped up the naming rights in the process.

"The guys at Yamaha Queensland are switched on and oversee the biggest racing market in the country. After the success of their junior program in 2006, we were only too happy to come on board with the senior team and are proud to take the naming rights," says division leader Greg Haring. "We look forward to a successful year with them and also continue our relationship with the junior team as well." In addition to GYTR, Shift, Alpinestars, D.I.D, Oakley, Pirelli, Talon, Fox, Yamalube, SMG, DEP Quick Shift, DB Race Suspension, Unifilter, iKat, RHK, Universal Metal and SBS have provided considerable support for the new team. The Queensland motocross calendar kicks off on January 6 with a rash of stadium motocross events before heading out to the great outdoors and Australia‰Ûªs most popular motocross series, the Sunshine State Series gets under way in early February. It‰Ûªs going to be an exciting ride. RIDER PROFILES
