Geoff Braico joins the Motorex KTM Off-Road team

Posted:

Former AORC E3 champion Geoff Braico will join the Motorex KTM team when the Australian Off-Road Championship continues this weekend at Corner Inlet, Victoria.

The experienced big-bore lover and currently third ranked E3 rider in the AORC, Braico received the call up to ride the team‰Ûªs KTM500EXC for the remainder of the series.

The ride is left vacant by injured Toby Price, the popular AORC champion who has dominated Aussie off-road racing in recent times. Price was seriously injured while racing in the United States recently, and is sidelined for the foreseeable future while he recovers from multiple spinal fractures.

‰ÛÏWe dearly wish Toby could be back with us already,‰Û

Hollis is keen to get back on the racing circuit after spending plenty of time cycling in recent weeks including racing the Troy Bayliss Grand Fondi.

‰ÛÏIt‰Ûªs been a while since we‰Ûªve raced and I‰Ûªm kinda keen to get out there." Hollis stated. "It‰Ûªs going to be different without Toby there but there will be nothing different about the way I go about trying to ride the best race I can ride.

"It‰Ûªs just that Toby won‰Ûªt be there making it harder to win! The other guys will surely step it up now too, so it should be interesting," he added.

"Physically I‰Ûªm in good condition and ready to go. I‰Ûªve been training heaps and did the race on the bicycle last weekend.

"The Troy Bayliss Grand Fondi was pretty much a 35-kilometre uphill race and I got equal fourth with Troy and Olympic Triathlete Courtney Atkins.‰Û

Burrell meanwhile has spent his time since the last AORC race concentrating on racing some motocorss event to help lift his race intensity. This weekend will mark the first time Burrell has raced at the Corner Inlet venue, after being overseas the last time an event was held at Corner Inlet.

‰ÛÏI‰Ûªve been getting into a really good routine with my training and riding in the last six weeks." Burrel explained. "I‰Ûªve done a heap of motocross around Central West District and I‰Ûªve only had two weekends off since the last AORC round.

"It‰Ûªs been great working on the intensity and the corner speed in preparation for this next XC round.

"I was overseas last time the they raced there, but from what I‰Ûªve heard from the boys the area‰Ûªs sandy, the track‰Ûªs fairly rough and the weather‰Ûªs terrible!

It‰Ûªll be different without Toby around that‰Ûªs for sure. He‰Ûªs such a cool, calm and collected character he‰Ûªs great to have around in the pits and it‰Ûªs a loss to the team for sure. I wish him all the best with his recovery and no doubt we‰Ûªll see him again very soon.‰Û
