Twenty years after claiming his first Mr Motocross Title, one of Australia's most successful motocross riders, Craig Dack has become the ambassador of this nation's premier motocross championship, the Nokia MX Nationals.
In the lead up to the eighth round of the Nokia MX Nationals, Dack's role will see him promote motocross in regional Victoria by visiting schools, community groups and media outlets in preparation for when the hotly contested series visits Broadford's State Motorcycle Complex.
Dack who is now responsible for the operation of his own leading motocross team,
CDR/Nokia/Yamaha was honoured to accept the position as ambassador of the Nokia MX Nationals.
"It has made me proud to be the ambassador of the Nokia MX Nationals. I have been involved in the sport for a lot of years now and being awarded this honour is something for me to hang my hat on," Dack stated.
"It is nice to have the experience on hand and knowledge to conduct school visits on motivation, goal setting and healthy eating and try to pass on our great sport to the younger generation."
Dack believes that this year's Nokia MX Nationals has stepped up a level of professionalism and is happy to work with championship organisers to continue to open motocross up to a new market.
"Motocross has gone from strength-to-strength this year with the level of the competition, the riders and racing has been fantastic and it has made everybody even more determine to reach out to as many people as we can so that they all know this fact," Dack added.
"There is a certain level of notoriety that comes with winning a Mr Motocross title and I'm happy to use this to assist the sport and use it to reach out to the youth and younger generation."
According to
Kevin Williams, Nokia MX Nationals Series Promoter, Dack was the obvious choice as ambassador for the series and the eighth round at Broadford was a logical place to commence the concept as the track is the home of the ‰Û÷Mr Motocross' title.
"No other name within motocross carries the same esteem as Craig Dack's within Australian motocross circles," Williams stated, "It is fantastic to have Craig on board to assist in providing the Nokia MX Nationals with a presence amongst a the younger people of today."
"Having Craig [Dack] do a road trip through regional Victoria in the lead up is another initiative developed by WEM [Williams Event Management] to assist in getting motocross out to a new group of people."
