Finals fever took hold at the 2012 Honda Australian Junior Motocross Championship (AJMX) today, with the first full day of finals action hitting the Coolum Pines Motocross Track.

Queensland turned on the sunshine as hundreds of future motocross stars from around the country powered through fifteen fast-paced finals events.

The 100-150cc 12-U14 class were the first through the gate this morning for their third finals event of the week. Queensland‰Ûªs own Isaac Richardson delivered his best ride of the week to take the win ahead of New South Welshman Dylan Dukes and Queenslander Kaleb Barham.

NSW youngster Billy Payne claimed his first win of the week in the third 50cc Auto final, crossing the line in front of Victoria‰Ûªs Tyran Tomich and Western Australia‰Ûªs Jasyn Roney.

Local star Jett Lawrence powered home in the third 65cc 7-U9 final, beating out South Australia‰Ûªs Alex Larwood and Victoria‰Ûªs Dominic Walker.

The first final of the 65cc 9-U11 class was swept up by Queensland rider Bailey Malkiewicz, who took the honours ahead of Western Australia‰Ûªs Regan Duffy and NSW rider Caleb Clifton.

The third 65cc 11-U13 final belonged to Western Australia‰Ûªs Caleb Grothues, who finished more than ten seconds clear of New South Welshman Riley Dukes and more than 26 seconds ahead of Queensland‰Ûªs Blake Cobbin.

Riley Dukes turned up the heat in his next race to take the win in the third 150cc 9-U13 final, finishing ahead of Western Australia‰Ûªs Regan Duffy and Queensland‰Ûªs Jono Cordwell.

Western Australia‰Ûªs Caleb Grothues sustained his blistering form to collect top honours in the first 85cc 9-U12 final, outpacing Victorian dynamo Callum Norton and NSW rider Michael Driscoll.

Queensland‰Ûªs Wilson Todd continued his effective assault on the 85cc 12-U14 tile, taking the first final moto over Sunshine Coast local Hunter Lawrence and fellow Queenslander Mitchell Evans.

New South Wales charger Dylan Heaton picked up top honours in the third 85cc 14-U16 final event of the week, storming home ahead of Queensland‰Ûªs Blake Colleton and NSW rider Brock McCleary.

The third final of the 150cc 14-U16 was secured by NSW rider Elias Dukes, who squeezed out Queenslanders Samuel Rider and Lochie Latimer in a tight moto.

Queensland‰Ûªs Joel Dinsdale thundered home in the first final of the 200-250cc 15 years class, defeating NSW rider Joel Wightman and New Zealand‰Ûªs James Anderson.

Unfortunately for Dinsdale, his Championship hopes were dashed later in the afternoon when he sustained a reported wrist injury after crash landing in the third 100-150cc 15 years final moto, which has been rescheduled for tomorrow morning.

Queensland‰Ûªs Caleb Ward continued to lead the 100-150cc 13-U15, riding to victory over Western Australia‰Ûªs Jake Pruiti and Queensland‰Ûªs Todd Wilson .

Ward also collected top spot in the third 200-250cc 13-U15 final, which was run in two stages after being red-flagged early in the piece. Ward was followed home by Victorian rider Wayde Carter and NSW pilot Egan Mastin, both members of the GMR Motorex KTM Racing Team.

Queensland‰Ûªs Cheyenne Taylor stepped up the pace in the third final of the 85cc Female 12-U16 class to take her first event win of the meet, beating out Jozee Adamson from NSW and Amy Bartsch from South Australia.

Victoria‰Ûªs Emma Milesevic continued to dominant the 100-150cc/200-250cc Female class, taking out the third final with another strong ride. NSW riders Jozee Adamson and Amy Bartsch backed up their 85cc 12-U16 performances to collect second and third.
