Moneyglass Demesne‰Ûªs baptism of fire will be tomorrow with the opening day of the Northern Irish Grand Prix. The recently built 1690 metre long track, which was tested only by Shaun Simpson and Martin Barr for promotional reasons, will host its first race this Sunday. The weather is rainy at the moment, but the weather forecast predicts showers for tomorrow and sun for Sunday.
Yamaha Motocross‰Ûª Joshua Coppins, who is currently leading the MX1 points standings, will miss also this round to be fitter for Donington, the penultimate round of the season. This weekend Suzuki‰Ûªs Steve Ramon has a big chance to move up to the Championship lead, if he scores at least 44 points, while GPKR‰Ûªs Sebastien Pourcel still lies third in the Championship, 40 points behind Ramon.
Pourcel hit his head while riding last weekend in France, but after this week of rest he is looking forward to discovering the brand new Moneyglass Demesne.
Kenneth Gundersen of Ricci Racing will make his debut on the 2008 model of the YZ450F this weekend; the Norwegian tested the bike this week, and cannot wait to do his first laps here in Ireland.
