At midday (12.00pm) tomorrow some of the world‰Ûªs best motorcycle racers will put Newcastle‰Ûªs 940m purpose built dirt/tar combination track to the test ahead of this weekend‰Ûªs opening round of the FIM Asia SuperMoto Championship.
Competitors from the United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, China, Malaysia, United States of America, Spain, France, New Zealand, Taiwan and Australia have converged on the iconic NSW regional centre for the event, which includes the running of the Watson Demolition Newcastle City SuperMoto.
The event will mark the first time Australia has hosted a round of the international series, which is contested in countries including Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia.
Spectator entry is free and the foreshore location will provide an incredible backdrop for the world-class racing. In addition to the full program of racing, the event will deliver entertainment options for the whole family.
Held over the father‰Ûªs day weekend of September 3-4 Graeme Boyd Motorcycles presents the Watson Demolition Newcastle City SuperMoto includes Open, Pro, Women‰Ûªs and Vets support classes.
The Australian round of the FIM Asia SuperMoto Championship has been secured for Newcastle for the next three years, through the NSW Government‰Ûªs tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
