Kawasaki‰Ûªs Timmy Ferry set the fastest lap time in today‰Ûªs AMA Motocross class qualifying at the Toyota Trucks Pro Motocross Nationals Presented by Division 7, round seven of the 12-race AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Presented by FMF. Kawasaki‰Ûªs Ryan Villopoto posted the fastest time in AMA Motocross Lites at Thunder Valley Motocross Park.
Less than one second separates the top four riders in the AMA Motocross division, with Ferry‰Ûªs best time of 2:20.260 setting the pace. Last week‰Ûªs Unadilla winner, Honda‰Ûªs Kevin Windham turned in the second fastest time of 2:20.486, followed by Yamaha‰Ûªs Grant Langston at 2:20.836.
Honda‰Ûªs Andrew Short, who grew up in Colorado Springs and considers Thunder Valley his home track, is right in the hunt at 2:21.224.
Villopoto and his Kawasaki teammate Ben Townley enter Lakewood deadlocked atop the AMA Motocross Lites standings, with 263 points apiece. Villopoto posted a time of 2:22.082, narrowly edging out Townley‰Ûªs best time of 2:22.250. Honda‰Ûªs Josh Grant was third at 2:24.546.
The top 40 riders in each division qualify into tomorrow‰Ûªs two-moto main event.
