Current duel Australian Junior Motocross Champion Meghan Rutledge heads the charge of the local brigade into the opening round of the Demon Energy Drink 2009 NSW Junior and Senior Motocross Championship that is to be staged at the Oakdale Motocross Track in the Wollondilly Shire over the Easter Long Weekend.
13-year-old Rutledge, who resides in the Wollondilly Shire township of Picton, is very excited about her 2009 Demon Energy Drink NSW Junior Motocross Championship campaign commencing on home soil.
"I have done a lot of my riding at Oakdale and I am really looking forward to riding in front of all my family and friends," she expressed. "The goal for the weekend is to ride to the best of my ability and hopefully bring home some good results in order to give my NSW Championship campaign the best possible start."
The Picton High School Year 9 student is very much looking forward to the challenges ahead of her this weekend; especially when you consider that she is not only entered in the girl's class but also in the classes amongst the boys. A challenge she really relishes. Rutledge is set to ride in three classes over the weekend which includes the Junior Girls Lites (250cc), 13 to Under 14 Years 250cc and the 13 to Under 14 Years 125cc.
"I love riding up against the boys and especially more so when I manage to beat them," the proud # 222 Kawasaki KX 250cc rider commented. "For the majority of the time I've been riding I have always ridden up against the boys as there have not been an individual girl class up until recently. Once you're out on the track my bike doesn't know whether or not I am a girl or a boy. Riding in multiple classes in one weekend is nothing new to me and it is something that I am fairly used to and enjoy."
Apart from the very talented duel Australian Champion in Rutledge, there will be many other local riders contesting the opening round of the Demon Energy Drink NSW Junior and Senior Motocross Championship.
The opening round of the NSW Junior and Senior Motocross Championship is to run over three days; with practice and races for the Junior riders on Saturday (April 11), followed by more races for the Juniors on Sunday (April 12) and then both practice and races for the Seniors on the Monday (April 13).
Throughout the weekend there will be loads of giveaways from both the Demon Energy Drink and Motorcycling NSW promotional staff.
On track action on all three days begins from 9am.
The Oakdale Motocross Track is located on Steveys Forest Road, Oakdale which is just off the Barkers Lodge Road.
