Leading Yamaha Racing motocross stars Cheyne Boyd and Jake Moss are wasting little time in getting back on the bike after the Supercross final, confirming their attendance at this weekend‰Ûªs unique Natural Terrain MX event.
The riders will make the long trip to Western Australia where they will spend this Saturday competing against some high calibre competition at Tumbulgum Farm in Byford.
A custom 2km course has been cut into the grassy hillside, and riders will contest 3-4 races across the course of the event.
For Boyd and Moss, the exhibition event will be perfect preparation for the upcoming motocross season as they will be racing against quite a few regular competitors.
An in-form Boyd came very close to securing the 2007 Supercross title aboard his YZ450F after winning last weekend‰Ûªs final round in Newcastle and knows the importance of making a strong transition between the two disciplines in the short break.
"The Natural Terrain Motocross event is a great way to get yourself prepared for the upcoming season and re-adapt your style to the longer events and more changeable conditions," said Boyd.
"We had a very strong finish to the Supercross season and this will be the perfect way to stay in the competitive mindset, while still having a bit of fun - it looks like it will be a great weekend and there should be a big crowd too."
Jake Moss‰Ûª determination to make regular visits to the podium is apparent, with the young gun citing the natural terrain motocross as a must-win to start the ball rolling.
With boundless pace and the rock-solid reliability of his Serco-developed YZ250F beneath him, spectators can expect to see the 18-year-old hit hot form immediately.
"The track time and racing practice will be very valuable for the upcoming season, I want to make sure I stay in good form and will be definitely looking to win my class," said Moss.
"I am really looking to make this my best year of motocross and a win here would be the perfect start, I'm very confident the bike is up to the task as it has been performing brilliantly all year."
Both riders will be pushing for event honours despite the non-championship status, as a good result here may be the mental edge needed to hit the ground running at the opening Broadford round of the Nokia MX Nationals in mid-April.
