"I want to win in Ireland, keep up my good results from Gaildorf and Lierop," Everts said. "It's been a long season and
I was so happy to get the win in Lierop, and take the championship."
Once Ireland is out of the way he will then put all his preparation into the Motocross of Nations, set to be held at the Ernee
circuit in France in two weeks time. Everts can't wait to battle with fellow legend Ricky Carmichael. Everts loves this event,
and goes to Ernee in good form, having won two of the last three GPs and also the latest round of the Belgian championship.
"I will do my best to beat Carmichael. I will do my best and that is all I can say or do now. I think Ricky was a little faster
in Zolder in 2003. Parts of the track was an advantage for him. Those whoops, some jumps, he had a small advantage in some parts
of the circuit, and I wanted to race him in Lierop, had we raced there that would have been my best chance to beat him, but that
didn't happen."
Another goal for Everts is to show Kevin Windham that the Grand Prix riders are his equal, or better. Several years ago Windham
and Everts had a battle royal at the 1999 Grand Prix of America, with Windham taking the victory and Everts finishing second
overall. Everts did take the overall win at the 1999 Motocross of Nations some weeks after the USGP, and the two will lock horns
again in France to decide which is more better.
"We have to see with Windham, what will happen to him. He has been second best in America, so if we can't follow Ricky (Carmichael)
then we will have a good battle with Windham. I heard that Cairoli will also race in the MX1 class at the event, and with riders
like Coppins, Pichon, Tortelli and so many others it's going to be interesting."
Whatever happens in the next two weeks you can count on Everts looking at taking a good break when the GP season ends, although
first he will compete in a couple of Supermoto events and a round of the Japanese championship.
