Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis delivered a measured and consistent performance at round two of the 2026 AMA Supercross Championship at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, carrying the team on his own with teammate Justin Barcia sidelined.

Ferrandis spent much of the day adapting to San Diego’s tighter and more technical track layout, which posed a different challenge to the season-opening Anaheim 1 round. In the opening qualifying session, the Frenchman focused on learning the circuit and logged a 1:00.962 lap to place 12th in the morning. Significant progress followed in Qualifying 2, where Ferrandis improved by nearly eight seconds with a 52.990 lap to secure ninth in the midday session and ninth overall on combined times.

That qualifying result placed Ferrandis in Heat Race 2, where the 31-year-old made a solid launch off the gate and completed the opening lap in fifth position. After briefly losing a spot on lap two, he responded decisively, charging forward on lap four with two clean passes to move into fourth. From there, Ferrandis maintained his composure and pace to the finish, comfortably transferring through to the Main Event.

The Main Event proved more challenging from the outset, with Ferrandis not getting the start he was chasing and exiting the opening lap in 10th position. Refusing to settle, he pushed forward to ninth by lap three, where he also set his fastest lap of the race. Continued consistency saw him climb to seventh by lap 10, remaining firmly in the fight as the race wore on. A small crash in the whoops briefly stalled his momentum, but Ferrandis remounted quickly and regrouped, settling back into ninth place where he would ultimately take the chequered flag.

Reflecting on the night, Ferrandis said the result marked a clear step forward despite the minor setback, explaining that, “The night was not bad, honestly. We made some improvements on the bike this weekend. It was hard to replicate the race situation, so I came to the race ready to adapt a little bit, and we did.” He added that ongoing adjustments throughout the evening paid off, noting, “We changed a little bit on the bike between sessions. Overall, I think we made big improvements. The bike was really, really awesome.”

Ferrandis detailed how his race unravelled late on, explaining, “I was in P6, then got passed for P7, and I tried something different in the whoops and ended up crashing. I lost a couple of positions and ended P9.” Despite that moment, he remained upbeat about the team’s direction, adding that, “The whole team feels very comfortable with the bike and what we can achieve with it, and I think we’re going to improve again this week and come back stronger for A2.”

With consistency a key focus for the Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing squad, Ferrandis’ pace and growing comfort on the Ducati underlined the team’s continued progress, with stronger starts likely to unlock even better results.

The team now turns its attention to round three as the championship heads back to Anaheim, looking to build on the gains made in San Diego and continue pushing forward in the 2026 AMA Supercross Championship.
