Motul Pirelli Suzuki riders Todd Waters and Steven Clarke have finishined round two of the 2012 Australian Supercross Championship in the same positions as they finished in round one.
Waters finished a fighting sixth in the second, contested in front of a record crowd alongside the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island at the weekend.
After finishing third in both of his heat races, Waters rode the fuel-injected 2013 RM-Z450 to sixth in the 20-lap Main Event, boosting himself to fifth in the championship standings at the halfway stage.
"I felt like we made improvements at Phillip Island compared to round one and I plan on keeping up the hard work over the next couple of weeks before round three." Waters stated.
"Sixth is the same result as the Dubbo opener on paper, but it was definitely a better round for me and I feel more comfortable each time we race and with more seat time in Supercross."
Team mate Clarke claimed fourth in the SX-Lites Main Event, working his way through the pair of heat races earlier in the afternoon with 2-4 finishes. With his results, the British rising star now sits equal third in the championship aboard the fuel-injected RM-Z250.
"It was great to be racing at the MotoGP event, but I was really aiming for the podium this weekend," said Clarke. "It was a tight track though and starts were the key, so we will just have to settle for fourth and keep trying hard for the final rounds."
Team Manager Jay Foreman seen the event as a positive one for not only his two riders but for supercross as a whole.
"It was a very positive event at Phillip Island, very unique for Australian Supercross and both Todd and Steven rode well." Foreman stated. We will keep working with them and hopefully continue to make progress at Toowoomba and Newcastle."
The Australian Supercross series will continue at Toowoomba in Queensland on Saturday, November 10th.
