Shane Diener has finished 2nd at the 2010 Swann Insurance 24 Hour Trial, beaten to the line by Chris Power from New Zealand.
This year‰Ûªs race was blessed with perfect weather conditions, combined with yet another spectacular South Australian course, to make for an exceptional event.
Diener was always in the hunt as he battled with Chris Power and Jehi Willis for the first three places. After 24 hours of what can only be described as epic racing, only three minutes separated the three riders with Victorian Jehi Willis proving his nighttime speed by taking out third place.
‰ÛÏI‰Ûªm pretty disappointed, my team and I worked so bloody hard to try to win this gruelling race again, but it wasn‰Ûªt to be," Diener said.
Diener has now quickly switched his focus to The Australian Safari in September. His testing aboard the KTM 690 has already been going great. Diener is aiming high for this year‰Ûªs Safari after his recent attempts ended with nightmares.
In his first attempt whiling running top 3 and looking seriously fast, the motor expired on his stock bike. The following year who could forget the images of the KLX450R frame snapped in half after hitting a kangaroo at more than 150km/p/h. Last year the deal didn‰Ûªt quite come together as planned and a decision was made to forgo the event.
Diener adding ‰ÛÏNow the 24 Hour is over my main focus is the Safari. I‰Ûªm spending every spare minute fine tuning the KTM 690 to squeeze every ounce of performance out it‰Û
