We catch up with Daniel McCoy after his first up effort during today's qualifying for the opening round of the 2013 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship.
Fullnoise: You qualified 4th fastest in your sessions how are you feeling heading into tonight's schedule?
DMC: Yeah I think it will be much better as the day goes on. They would have done a bit of track work so I'll flow a bit better.
Obviously being in the C practice session it's the last session on the track so it's always going to be the toughest but I'm finding my rytham. Trying to keep it flowing and trying to ride the way I know.
Fullnoise: How are you finding the track, are there any parts that you are finding difficult or struggling with?
DMC: Nah it all seems to be ok, it's just the whole overall speed that these guys carry over here. I'm really just trying to pick that up and match it, searching to find a bit of extra speed here and there.
Fullnoise: You came out here with a 2nd podium finish at the Australian Terex Supercross Championship are you settling into the American scene with ease?
DMC: Yeah it's obviously hard and different, everything is out of the comfort zone compared to back home. I've been here before so I know what to expect, I'm concentrating on just doing the best I can and see what happens.
Fullnoise: I noticed you are not on Factory Dunlop's here, how are the tyres handling track wise for you?
DMC: Yeah that's right I'm back to production tyres, they are good. But that one tyre that I use at home on the rear, it's great and especially gets off the start extremely well.
I'm definitely not making an excuse with the tyres, it is what it is we will do the best we can with what we have.
Fullnoise: How have you prepared yourself in the lead up to the first round of Monster Energy Supercross at Anaheim?
DMC: Just doing the usual, putting in the laps training on and off the bike focusing on my own stuff, ride the track the best i can looking to get the best start I can.
Fullnoise: I noticed you have been training pretty hard amongst the Honda's how is the Yamaha pairing up against them?
DMC: Yeah it's alright (laughs) Canard & Osbourne, both those guys have some good equipment on their bikes. Hopefully I can get my time down to a similar pace that they were putting out at the test track.
Fullnoise: Thanks Dan all the best for the remainder of A1
