Honda Australia have issued a press release stating that Current Maxxis Australian Motocross Championship leader and No Fear Honda‰Ûªs number one rider, Craig Anderson, has confirmed this morning that he has broken bones in his foot.
Anderson injured himself during practice earlier in the week near his home in Newcastle, and had the unfortunate news delivered by his orthopedic surgeon after an x-ray confirmed the worst.
The 27 year old, who showed impeccable form in the first two rounds and secured the lead over Daryl Hurley, had his foot put in plaster today and is expected to need at least four weeks recovery time.
"I'm very disappointed obviously," Ando said. "I have cracked some of the bones on the bottom of my foot in half so it isn‰Ûªt the kind of injury I can just ride through."
"I am hoping to be fit to ride in my home town at round five in Newcastle, and I will no doubt have to make up some valuable championship points."
"This is incredibly bad luck but comes with the territory as anyone in this sport knows. I am very annoyed but the Championship isn‰Ûªt even half way over yet and anything can happen."
