Craig Anderson Racing Turns Focus To The Sands Of Wanneroo

Posted:

After a tough weekend in the MX1 and MX2 classes at Murray Bridge, the Berry Sweet backed Husqvarna Motocross Racing team managed by Craig Anderson will head into the Sands of Wanneroo aiming to finish further up the field.

In the MX2 category, Nick Sutherland overcame his injured shoulder and poor starts to post some impressive lap times at Murray Bridge on Sunday, but a second Moto crash and DNF saw him ended the day 21st overall.

Sutherland who has had some good form in at sand races over the past 12 months is looking to put Murray Bridge behind him, with knows that with good starts this weekend in Western Australia, he has every chance to finish up front.

"I felt a lot better than I placed on the day, and if I‰Ûªd have had a top-five start things would have been a lot different." Sutherland stated. "I was caught in traffic when the good lap times were posted but once everything settled I was able to run with Jay and Hamish for the majority of the race.

"The top ten are all so close in ability you can‰Ûªt chase ‰Û÷em down from the back of the pack. I‰Ûªve had some good rides in the sand lately so I‰Ûªm looking forward to this weekend at Wanneroo.‰Û

Brock Winston's goal of two, top-10 finishes in the Premier MX one class will have to wait at least another week, after his chance was taken from him by a fallen rider at the start of the second Moto.

Having finished ninth in the first Moto, Winston's brilliant Moto 2 start came to nought when he was forced to leave the track in order to avoid a fallen rider.

Another rider who is always strong in the sand, Winston will stand a great chance this weekend to post two top ten moto results.

‰ÛÏI nearly had the holeshot in that last one but then we had some problems and I ended up nearly last and I had to work my way back through and that's all I could get." Winston commented. "It was a pretty easy track so everyone was fast, which didn't help.

"But it was a good round, I pushed hard, learned a few things, and I'm definitely moving forward so that's good. It wasn't real rough today, but we won't be saying that next weekend, and I'm looking forward to it.‰Û

While the teams MX1 and MX2 riders had tough weekends, Egan Mastin put his FC 250 on the podium at Murray Bridge on the back of his 2-5 moto results and in the process moved into the championship lead in the MXD class heading into the mid season break for the under 19s riders.

Team Manager Anderson could not be happier with Mastins early season form and is confident his young charger will carry that form into the second half of the season.

"Egan took the red plate today which is great." Anderson stated.
