Corey James from Wollongong has won New South Wales A & B Grade Open championship by finishing in third place at the final round held at Coonabarabran last weekend.
The racing at Coonabarabran was great with the track in great condition on Sunday for the seniors with James finishing third behind Craig Anderson and Beau Ralston on the top two spots on the podium. A third place finish gave Corey a two point win for the overall title.
"I rode well in all three rounds finishing all races even in the very wet conditions at the lakes round." stated a very happy James.
"I finished 2nd last year in the U19 and now I am riding both a 250cc and 450cc it is very demanding trying to keep fitness up." he added.
The 17 year old apprentice roof plumber battled with some of the heroes he has looked up to over the years throughout 2012 on his way to the top of the open class.
"Racing with the likes of Craig Anderson, Jay Marmont and Tye Simmonds at the first round has been a dream of mine all through juniors," enthused James.
James also secured second place in the Under 19 series. With the state championships now over, he will turn his attention to racing the East Coast MX Series, which he is leading in the Pro Lites and second in the Pro Open.
The series heads to Canberra this weekend where James will be looking to come out on tip in both classes.
