Factory Aprilia racer, Josh Coppins has posted a strong result at round 13 of the 15 round FIM Motocross world championship in Campo Grande, Brazil.
The spectacular, purpose built facility welcomed riders to warm humid weather conditions with the red coloured underground offering a loamy base with big jumps and technical sections.
Coppins stayed out of trouble in his qualification race and although he did not get the start he wanted he secured 10th spot.
As the gate dropped for moto 1, Coppins pushed his way into the top 10 behind Tony Cairoli and Steve Ramon. He trailed the Belgian for most of the race and then put in a last minute charge on a tiring Tanel Leok but finished two seconds adrift of the Estonian.
The final moto would turn out to be a great ride for Coppins. Once again Coppins had to push hard to break into the top ten after he did not get the start he needed. He put his head down and used his superior fitness to pressure and pick off riders one by one. Arround the halfway mark Coppins kicked it up a gear and moved past Jimmy Albertson, Leok and then David Guarneri to secure 7th place by the end of the 35 minute + 2 lap race.
