Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1 sweated through another round of the FIM Motocross World Championship at Loket with a dominating performance by Clement Desalle and Kevin Strijbos with victory and second position respectively ensuring a 1-2 finish overall.

Desalle also further consolidated second place in the series standings with a 39 point gap over Ken De Dycker and 90 behind Antonio Cairoli, while Strijbos is fifth and just 28 points from fourth spot.

High temperatures and traditional summer weather, apart from a freak heavy storm, greeted the Grand Prix of Czech Republic as the renovated circuit near the German border welcomed 22,000 spectators.

The Belgian duo tackled a hilly and narrow layout with rippling bumps and a predominant racing line that made overtaking difficult to judge and force.

Starting from second and fourth positions in the gate for the new downhill start-straight and first turn, Desalle and Strijbos were both extremely strong out of the gate. Strijbos grabbed the holeshot in the first moto but it was Desalle who took control of proceedings and established a comfortable gap over his team-mate to win by almost 20 seconds.

The factory RM-Z450s were again a force away from the start line in the second moto and once more Desalle was irrepressible. Smooth, faultless and in tune with the track Desalle was a runaway winner and maintained his pattern of victory every two years at Loket dating back to 2009. He delivered the team's second triumph after his success at Qatar and his 11th spray of champagne this season.

"I'm really happy about my riding today." Desalle enthused. "I could make some cool lines and fast lap-times that allowed me to make a gap in both motos.

"The gap allowed me to relax and I could control it until the end. It was a really strong day for me. I didn't have too much pressure because I go to the start line to do the best I can, like at every GP, with many second and third positions I am happy to finally win and with both motos is really good," he added.

Strijbos had a slightly harder job in Moto 2 as he caught and passed both Ken De Dycker and Tommy Searle to secure his runner-up ranking with fourth place moto finish.

"It's been a good weekend." Strijbos stated. "I had a great start, went from second to third, but was able to follow Ken and pass him back. I was happy with that.

"I felt good for the second moto. I hesitated a bit at the start and misjudged the gate drop. I rolled a little bit and had to break and then finally went for it, so I lost some momentum.

"It was difficult in the beginning and I couldn't run my lines and couldn't go like I wanted to. I tried to take it easy and then started pushing hard so I was able to get Ken again and then Tommy on the last lap.

"First and second for the team is great and I want to thank them all for what they do," he concluded.

Honda World Motocross racer Evgeny Bobryshev put on a strong performance to take third position overall, despite the difficult, changeable conditions.

With teammate Max Nagl out of proceedings due to contracting the Epstein-Barr virus, Bobryshev was the sole contender for the Honda World Motocross team this weekend.

After qualifying fifth yesterday, Bobryshev got a decent start in the opening race, and tussled with the leading riders in the first few turns with some strong, aggressive riding, before settling into fifth position.

The Honda pilot lost a place to Antonio Cairoli mid-moto, but a stormy rain shower made the track like an ice rink, and Bobryshev benefited from fourth-placed Jeremy van Horebeek‰Ûªs crash on the slick ground six laps from the end of the 35-minute plus two-lap moto.

Bobryshev did crash himself and lost his goggles soon after, as the slippery conditions made the ultra-hardpack, stoney track difficult to navigate, but the Russian racer managed to get back on-board without losing a position and safely brought his Dunlop-shod CRF450R home in fifth position.

In race two Bobryshev got a storming start and led the field into the first turn. He lost a position in the second corner to eventual Grand Prix winner Clement Desalle, and dropped to fourth on lap three as van Horebeek and Ken de Dycker made a hard charge.

The Honda racer fought back with some smart moves, and settled into third place by the following lap with his smooth and confident riding, despite it being a track he doesn‰Ûªt particularly like.

De Dycker dropped back somewhat, and tried to make up the deficit mid-moto, but Bobryshev was able to respond in the drier, but cooler conditions and brought his machine home in third to take third overall for a podium finish, which has been long-awaited following injury earlier in the season.

‰ÛÏI have to say I was pleased it was cooler today, as I know the heat is my weak point, but the conditions helped me in the races." Bobryshev explained. "We found a good setting yesterday, and I had a good jump from the start in the first race. I was fighting with the front guys, but it‰Ûªs difficult to be aggressive here, as the bike slides around so much.

"I kept the fifth place until the end, despite crashing, because the rain came and made it so easy for the front end to wash out. I had a few moments, and there was no easy line after the rain, so it was important to be careful with the throttle.

"In the second race I got another good start; I was fighting with Ken (de Dycker) in the beginning, and he made some aggressive moves, but I managed to get the place back. I knew the gap was quite big to him from the middle of the race, so I was really careful not to make any mistakes, and I could respond when he put the pressure on.

"It‰Ûªs really not my kind of track, so I am very happy to be on the podium. We still have some steps to make to improve my speed in the beginning of the race, as everyone settles down in the middle of the moto, but I need to find the speed in the first few laps.

"I am happy with the riding, and I have to say thanks to all of the team, the sponsors, and the Japanese staff we have here this weekend, because it is such a big team effort to achieve this; it‰Ûªs been a long journey back from injury with the set-backs, but all of this has made me stronger," he added.

Red Bull KTM racer Ken de Dycker finished the round in fourth position while World MX1 Championship points leader, Antonio Cairoli had a tough day behind the bars missing the podium for the first time in 2013, finishing the round in 5th place overall.

‰ÛÏThe first race was perfect for me. I was in third place and my plan was to be better in the second race and make it into the top three for a podium place." Cairoli explained. "But then I made contact with (Jeremy) van Horebeek and I went down and dropped back to twelfth.

"I managed to get back to seventh but couldn‰Ûªt improve on that in the time that was left.‰Û
