British supermoto ace Christian Iddon will be appearing at the AAC Festival of Speed in Perth this Sunday ahead of the Striker Crushing and Screening Australian Supermoto Championships next week.
More than 20,000 people are expected to attend the inaugural festival at Barbagallo raceway that will celebrate all things motorsport and include cars, bikes, buggies and trucks.
The festival's headline act is Australian Formula One driver Mark Webber, who will be driving his Red Bull Racing F1 car and is expected to obliterate the circuit's lap record.
Organisers have built an infield dirt section which includes a jump that 20 supermoto bikes will tackle.
Supermoto Club of WA members are participating in the event to demonstrate to the public their unique form of racing which involves a circuit that is part dirt and part bitumen.
Iddon decided to come to WA earlier than he had originally planned so that he could appear at the festival.
He competed in the last round of the British supermoto championship and won each of his three three races.
In WA, he will be riding a Crushing and Mining Equipment KTM450SMR.
He is bringing some trick parts for the bike with him that includes a custom swingarm, rear shock and CDI unit.
Reigning Australian supermoto champion, Italian Davide Gozzini, is currently second in the the world championship and will be competing in the final round of the championship this weekend in Europe on his Team 747 TM450SMX in a bid to become world champion.
Gozzini will arrive from Europe in the early hours of Friday, December 3 and head straight to the Collie Motorplex where practice starts at noon and the supermoto championships will be held that weekend.
