Round 10 of the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship unfolded at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama, featuring a dramatic Triple Crown event that brought fierce competition in both the 450 and 250 East Coast classes.

Chase Sexton further solidified his championship contender status with a dominant performance, while Nate Thrasher secured his first win of the season by displaying impressive consistency.

The night wasn’t without drama, as Ken Roczen raced through injury after suffering an AC joint separation in a crash the previous week. Roczen pulled off during the second 450SX qualifying session but pushed through and raced in the main events. In the 250 East class, Championship challenger Max Anstie suffered a serious crash in qualifying, resulting in a broken fibula that will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

450SX Class

Chase Sexton came into the night as the fastest qualifier, with an impressive 57.228-second lap, nearly seven-tenths faster than second-place Justin Cooper, who posted a 57.961-second lap. Cooper Webb and Jason Anderson also had solid qualifying performances, securing third and fourth places, respectively. Webb, the current points leader, logged a competitive 58.113-second lap, just under a tenth of a second ahead of Anderson, who timed in at 58.120.

In Race 1, it was Aaron Plessinger who grabbed the holeshot, but Sexton quickly worked his way through the field. After a block pass on Anderson, Sexton closed in on his teammate, Aaron Plessinger, and made a clean pass for the lead. Sexton extended his lead, crossing the finish line with over a five-second margin to secure the first win of the night. Malcolm Stewart finished third after a strong ride, while Ken Roczen, battling through his shoulder injury, made impressive moves to finish fifth.

Race 2 saw Sexton continue his dominance as he once again passed Plessinger for the lead. Sexton showed great composure and skill, cruising to another victory. Stewart backed up his strong performance with a second-place finish, while Plessinger, who had led early, finished third.

Race 3 was all about Cooper Webb, who desperately needed a strong performance to maintain his championship lead. After struggling in the first two races with a 7-4 finish, Webb made a statement with a solid win in Race 3. However, Sexton had already secured the overall win with a 1-1-2 score, choosing a more cautious route in Race 3 to ensure his victory. Stewart, riding through the pain of an injury, completed his strong night with a third-place finish in Race 3, giving him second overall with a 3-2-3 score.

When the points were tallied, Sexton emerged as the clear-cut winner for the round, while Malcolm Stewart secured second overall, and Aaron Plessinger rounded out the top three.

Webb’s fourth-place finish overall (7-4-1) saw his points lead decrease to just eight points over Sexton, setting the stage for a heated battle heading into Seattle. Ken Roczen finished 10th on the night, salvaging valuable points, and remains third in the championship.

250SX East Class

The 250SX East Coast racers were back in action in Birmingham, with Seth Hammaker carrying momentum from his previous victory. Hammaker laid down the fastest qualifying time, posting a 58.618-second lap, just one-tenth of a second ahead of RJ Hampshire, who secured second with a 58.784-second lap. Carson Mumford was close behind in third with a 58.949-second lap, marking the last rider to break into the 58-second range. Nate Thrasher rounded out the top five with a 59.249-second time, showcasing his speed and consistency heading into the night’s races.

In the 250 East class, Hampshire came out strong, taking the holeshot in Race 1 and leading every lap. Although Tom Vialle closed in on him in the closing stages, Hampshire held his ground to secure the win. Nate Thrasher snuck into third after a solid ride, while Seth Hammaker’s hopes for a good night were dashed after a fall on the first lap, leaving him in 9th place.

Race 2 saw Hammaker bounce back, grabbing the holeshot and leading every lap to claim his first-ever Triple Crown race win. Hampshire rode a consistent race to finish second, keeping his overall hopes alive, while Thrasher again took third, with Tom Vialle finishing just behind.

The final race of the night proved to be a turning point for the 250 East class. Although Hammaker took his second win of the night, his earlier 9th-place finish in Race 1 left him with an overall score of 9-1-1, putting him in fourth overall for the night. Thrasher’s 3-3-2 performance was enough to secure his first win of the season. Thrasher’s consistency across all three races, despite not winning a single moto, allowed him to edge out Hampshire, who tied him on points but finished second in Race 3. Thrasher’s overall win marked a breakthrough for the Star Racing Yamaha rider.

Hampshire’s 2-2-5 finishes earned him second overall, while Vialle’s 2-5-3 finishes secured him third overall, further extending his points lead in the East Coast standings.

It was a night full of drama and determination in Birmingham. Sexton’s strong, consistent results put him in the driver’s seat for the 450 class, with his victory narrowing the gap to Webb’s points lead. Meanwhile, Thrasher’s consistency in the 250 East class earned him his first win of the season. With an intense points battle in both classes, the championship is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in recent memory as we head into Seattle next weekend.
