Cameron McAdoo suffered a heavy crash in the whoops during the 250SX Main Event at Round 6 of Monster Energy AMA Supercross in Detroit, forcing a red flag and ending his night early.
The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider had been running inside the Top 5 and was pushing toward the podium when he went down hard in the closing laps. The crash left him with a facial injury requiring stitches, but early indications suggest no major injuries beyond the cut. After being attended to by the medical team, McAdoo will now take a few days to assess his condition before making a plan for his return. Despite the setback, he expects to be well enough to line up for the next round.
“It was a tough night for me here in Detroit,” said McAdoo. “I banged up my face pretty good and needed some stitches, but other than that, I think I’m okay. We’ll take the next couple of days to fully assess everything and decide on the next steps. I really appreciate everyone’s support, and next time I come to Detroit, I’ll be looking for redemption.”
The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team will continue to monitor McAdoo’s recovery, but as of now, he is optimistic about racing next weekend.
