C.R.A.V.E. And Honda giving children guidance through motocross

Posted:

The Police and Community Youth Groups (PCYC) in Umina Beach on the Central Coast of NSW was recently paid a visit by NSW Police officers as a part of Cop‰Ûªs Race Against Violence through Education (C.R.A.V.E). "The whole objective of C.R.A.V.E is to make young riders aware that motorcycles are not toys and although they are a lot of fun, there can be serious consequences," explained Youth Liaison Officer, Constable Rachael Eagle of City Central LAC. As a C.R.A.V.E. representative, road license holder, and competitor in women‰Ûªs motocross aboard her Honda sponsored CRF250R, Eagle has a vast personal knowledge about the importance of motorcycle safety both on and off road. "We educate kids about the importance of wearing the right safety equipment, as well as consequences such as penalties if they don‰Ûªt have the correct sort of license and how that can result in their bike being confiscated." "Unfortunately we are hearing more and more about young people being seriously injured in motorcycling related accidents, with many of those accidents avoidable had they been riding in a sensible manner, in the correct place and or using suitable safety equipment," she noted. Eagle continued on by saying that the involvement of guest riders is of immense benefit. "We get professional motorcycle riders in whenever possible to talk to the kids about motorcycle safety and how important it is, and to also touch on setting their own personal goals in life," she said. At the penultimate round of the Australian Motocross Championships at Raymond Terrace, NSW in July, C.R.A.V.E displayed their police livery Honda CRF250, and according to Eagle, the response from the local crowd was "very positive". "C.R.A.V.E would not be possible without the ongoing support of a number of sponsors including Honda Australia," Eagle said. "We look forward to doing more community work in the future.‰Û
