Teterin Motosport‰Ûªs Jordan Burgess continued his race-winning form at Mallala‰Ûªs fifth round of the
Australian Superstock 1000 Championship on 28-30 August, scoring a spectacular victory in the third
and final race of the weekend to secure second overall for the South Australian round.
The Motologic Racing-supported rider qualified his Honda CBR1000RR in second position with a best
lap of 1:10.485sec to position himself on the front row of the grid for the trio of 10-lap races to be held
during the weekend.
Race one of the weekend was run and won in wet conditions on Saturday afternoon, where Burgess
managed to place third behind first-time winner Des Darby and arch-rival Pat Medcalf, setting up a
close battle for the honours come Sunday‰Ûªs racing action.
Dry conditions greeted riders and teams for Sunday and the second race of the weekend saw 24-
year-old Burgess finish a lonely second behind Medcalf, setting a best lap of 1:09.962sec, which was
a sign of further improvement for the weekend.
That result gave Burgess confidence heading into the third and final race of the round, where he went
on to go head-to-head with factory Yamaha rider Medcalf, getting the better of him and scoring his
second race victory of the season in impressive fashion after a determined effort saw him come out
on top.
Burgess again lowered his lap time down to 1:09.506sec in the final outing, consistently lapping
beneath the lap record for the class set last year on his way to a well deserved final race win for the
round.
"I was confident heading into the round and I‰Ûªve been working close with my mechanic, Shawn Clarke,
so I knew that we‰Ûªd have a strong package heading into Mallala," Burgess said.
"Race one was wet and we basically
tried to finish that race on the podium, and then in the second race I took a comfortable second, so
after that I knew that I was ready to take on Pat in that third race of the weekend. I was able to take
the holeshot and I wanted to pull a pretty substantial lead, but he was able to stay with me for the
entire race and right at the end in Turn Three he had a look at the inside, but I punted him out and
