Cougar Bourbon Honda Racing‰Ûªs Bryan Staring has finished an impressive fourth place at the weekend‰Ûªs Brands Hatch round of the British Superstock 1000 Championship, deputising for injured Steve Plater in the factory HM Plant Honda team.
The current points leader of the Viking Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) received the call-up for the previous round at Snetterton, but his debut race lasted just seconds after he was taken out of contention in an opening lap mishap.
Eager to put the challenging weekend behind him, Staring concentrated on preparation for Brands Hatch, taking the opportunity to get in some sighting laps of the circuit with the rider he was replacing, Steve Plater, earlier in the week.
The 23-year-old took a measured approach to the round, ensuring he had a feel for the conditions and the available grip with a conservative practice session early in the piece.
From 27th in practice he improved 17 grid positions to snare 10th place in qualifying and a solid third row start for the 15-lap race.
Familiar with Honda‰Ûªs CBR1000RR in his domestic pursuits, Staring was able to move forward at an impressive rate, making up 8 places to greet the chequered flag in fourth.
‰ÛÏI‰Ûªm very pleased with the result this weekend, it‰Ûªs a great result for the team and for me personally, I felt comfortable on the bike and was able to make up some really good ground throughout the race,‰Û
