Broadford and the Victorian State Motorcycling Complex - Reg Hunt Park, will host this year's annual cancer charity fund raiser KTM Ride 4 Kids on Sunday, October 21.
The KTM Ride 4 Kids raises much needed funds for "Challenge" a not for profit organisation that supports kids with cancer.
Funds are raised through motocross and enduro enthusiasts of all ages having a go in multiple riding disciplines in a fun environment. Eight various riding classes will take place throughout the event including 50cc junior races right through to novice all powers and the thumping 525 big bores.
All rider entry fees of $45 goes directly towards Challenge cancer support programmes, rider entry is also fully tax deductible.
Riders are also encouraged to participate in the sponsorship donation programme tied in with the event, by asking friends or family to make a one off cash donation to Challenge to be presented at the event. Entry and donation sponsorship forms can be secured on-line at www.challenge.org.au or
www.mxtv.com.au or by calling Challenge on 03 9329 8474.
Three riders with the highest raised funds in each of the eight motorcycle classes entering the event will be rewarded with prizes donated by O'Neal, Fox and Scott, with the major prize donation of a KTM 450 EXC R donated by KTM Australia, going to the rider with the most funds raised out of all motorcycle classes.
The KTM 450 EXC R is the latest off-road bike to be released by the motorcycling manufacturer and is valued at $12,595 plus on road costs.
Motorcycle enthusiasts do not have to hold a competition licence to participate, as non competition licences can be purchased on the day for $25. Whilst the motocross and enduro rides will be kept somewhat separate, it's a chance for enduro riders to experience motocross and visa-versa. The only criteria to ride the enduro component, is to have a recreational or fully registered dirt bike.
Volunteer event organiser,
Matt Manning is only too familiar with the challenges families and children living with cancer related illnesses experience, as his son suffered from the disease at only two and a half years of age.
With all the support, provided by Challenge during his families troublesome times, Matt decided to give something back to the charity that helped his family and has been organising and running the charity event ever since.
"KTM Ride 4 Kids is entering its sixth year of operation with each year raising more money. Since starting the event in 2002, we have now raised upwards of $350,000 all going to supporting the families of Challenge," said Manning.
Jeff Leisk, General Manager of KTM Australia recognised the efforts of Matt Manning's involvement in the fund raiser, happily coming on board as a naming rights sponsor for 2007.
"It's great to see Matt Manning pulling motorcycle communities around Victoria together for such a great cause, said Leisk.
"KTM is thrilled to be a part of the fund raiser and we hope our contribution to the event helps many children and families Australia-wide."
In addition to all the fun racing action KTM Ride 4 Kids will see professional motocross riders make special guest appearances to provide kids from Challenge with a ride around the track.
Reg Hunt Park - Broadford Motorcycling Complex will open its gates for the KTM Ride 4 Kids at 7am on Sunday 21st October 2007 with riding from 9am to 5:00pm.
